This site is about horse jewelry. No matter what type of horse jewelry you’re talking about, this is the place for it. It could be gold, silver, rings, bracelets or earrings, if it belongs in the general category of equestrian jewelry it belongs here.

At one time, the term horse jewelry referred to gold and silver embellishments on saddles, bridles and breastplates. In fact the expression is still used that way in Western Show circles. Really ‘pimp your ride’: That isn’t what we are talking about, though.

For our purposes here, horse jewelry is jewelry with an equestrian theme.

The definition of jewelry needs to be very broad to encompass all the materials that can be used.
High end jewelry can be gold or silver and adorned with precious stones. At the other end of the spectrum, there are novelty items made of plastic or low-grade metals which have a horse theme. In general, I would say if it’s pretty and people wear it then it is jewelry.

Interestingly, the purposes of horse jewelry in our sense are the same as they were in the old.

* Attract attention
* Make a personal impact
* Display your taste and character

Equestrian jewelry for people fulfills one more, very important function: to display your passion for horses!

People who are involved with horses are incredibly passionate about their interest.

Horses are more than a hobby. Horses are a way of life. So it just makes sense to wear some piece of horse jewelry to display your commitment to that path. It’s also a really good filter when meeting people in a social setting. If someone notices your horse jewelry and comments on it, you have probably found another horse lover and will have lots to talk about.

Choosing the Perfect Princess Cut Diamond Pendant

There are many nuances present when it comes to love and relationships and how a story unfolds can completely captivate an audience. This is largely proven by the multitude of romantic comedies available on the media market and the fact that this genre continues to grow in popularity. One of the first questions which a new couple is asked by friends and family is regarding how they met and how the proposal took place. Whether is through a moonlit window scene like Romeo and Juliet, a boisterous public scene involving song and dance reminiscent of Bing Crosby movies, or a quiet question summoned in the middle of a park, people love to hear the manner in which a person chooses to propose.

The method of proposal chosen often reflects a lot about the personalities and preferences of the couple themselves. Similar to this, the style and cut of jewelry chosen for such events also indicates a lot about the couple. Whether it’s a classic princess cut diamond pendant raised above the band or a row of circular jewels of various colors, each style reflects some details about the individual. For novice jewelry buyers, it is tempting to think that the style preferred by a trusted confidant must be equally liked by the intended recipient, but this is rarely the case.

Not only do personal preferences come into play, but vocational interests and current jewelry wearing habits as well. For a hair stylist, the idea of a having a princess cut diamond pendant may be sublime, but it is probably best if it is flush with the band rather than than the traditional raised height. For a hair stylist, it is common to use the fingers as a measuring guide while completing cuts and styles, and a raised princess cut diamond pendant could get in the way of the scissors. In similar fashion, choosing a yellow gold band for an individual who wears only silver jewelry would likely be a mistake even if it was garnished with the perfect princess cut diamond pendant.

The obvious color clash and disregard for color preference does not take the individual into account. Instead, in such a case it would be much wiser to combine the princess cut diamond pendant with a white gold band that will mesh well with silver adornments. Once the basic style, vocational and personal preferences have been considered, there are some basic attributes that should be evaluated when choosing the quality of diamond that will adorn the finger or neckline of a significant other. These basic attributes are commonly known as the four C’s and include Carat, Cut, Clarity and Color. The cut is generally chosen in regard to personal taste and preferences and some common styles include round, pear, princess, heart, oval, emerald, baguette, trillion and marquise.

Each cut has a unique shape and pattern that allows the light to pass through the stone in a particular manner. The type of cut chosen affects the visible brilliance of the stone and should be carefully considered when selecting the right style. Carat is how diamonds are measured and sized. One carat is equal to one-fifth of a gram. Typically, the more carats a diamond has, the larger it is and the valuable it is considered to be. Though a large carat size may be a grand indication of love in some cases, like the situation with the hair stylist, be sure to take personal preferences into account before becoming set on a larger diamond.

Clarity is a measure of the imperfections within a diamond. The rarest and most valuable diamonds are flawless and without imperfection. It is common for diamonds to have some imperfections that affect clarity, but if possible, it is important to choose a stone that will maintain its brilliance. Lastly, color is important to consider and the easiest to see. Ideally, the stone should be colorless rather than have a yellow tinge to it. After, the quality of the jewelry is often a reflection of the overall relationship and is often proudly worn for years after the commitment has been made.

Selling Cubic Zirconia Jewelry - Its All About The Display

Inventory! You have too much! You have cubic zirconia jewelry coming out your ears and then some. What can you do to move the stock into the customer’s hands and some dollars into your hands?

One of the biggest things you can do is to make sure that your displays don’t get in the way of making a sale. Display of the jewelry can make all the difference in moving the customer to making the purchase and they don’t even know it.

Customers like dazzling displays, full of sparkle and brilliance. Shimmering lights and wonderfully beautiful vibrant color displays.

But know that selling cubic zirconia jewelry starts before you get to the display stage. It starts when you purchase the cubic zirconia jewelry at the wholesalers. You need to keep an eye out for gemstones that compliment each other both in color and style yet are different enough to offer the customer a choice.

There is a trap though of only purchasing what you like. Remember that you are purchasing what you think what the customer will like on their fingers or around their necks not what you would want to wear. Everyone is different and you need to treat them as such. I will say it again. They are not like you and you need to buy for them!

When considering the display, for clear or lighter colored stones use colors that are vibrant and serve to compliment. The use of satin is always good with smaller floral displays in pastel colors rather than something that jumps up and smacks you.

When the stones are darker such as a deep and rich emerald green, use black around the display but continue to use light colors for the actual display bed. The use of a light colored background is definitly preferred.

Don’t be afraid to display other jewelry such some inexpensive costume jewelry to compliment the cubic zirconia. Who knows, you might just make a double sale.

Caring for Your Diamond Jewelry

If diamonds are a girls’ best friend, then you have to care for your best friend right? It’s great to have beautiful diamond jewelry which you can wear for special and formal occasions. Even though diamonds are hard stones, it is still important to care for them to avoid any kind of scratches or damage. Here are some things to keep in mind when caring for your precious stones.

It is best to avoid wearing your diamonds when working with oil or bleach, or whenever you are doing heavy work. These may affect the lustre of your stone, metal bands and may even damage the texture. Bleach and other chemicals may discolour the metal bands.

When storing your diamonds, keep them separate from other jewelry. Diamonds are so hard that they can scratch your other stones or their settings. Keep your diamonds individually packed to avoid scratches from other diamonds. If you have to store your jewelry in one box, then you should use cloth pouches or plastic sealing bags to keep them separatel. Just make sure that the jewels are perfectly dry to avoid any moisture formation.

Diamond settings need to be checked. You should take them to your favourite jeweler every year to check on the prong or the settings. If they are loose, then your jeweler can make repairs immediately. How often you should have your jewelry checked depends on how often it is worn. Once a year is sufficient if your diamonds spend most of their time in their case, but if you wear them often you should consider visiting the jeweler every six months.

Clean your diamond jewelry every month. Its shine and brilliance can be affected by exposure to oils and fats. The oils and fats could be from your skin or from your cosmetics. Learn to clean your jewelry yourself or get a professional to do it.

You can clean your jewelry at home. Just drop it in tepid water with some liquid soap and brush it with a soft-bristled toothbrush. You can get ammonia based cleansers from your jeweler.Be sure to use a strainer when taking it out of the water to guard against the loss of a loose stone. Rinse it carefully with lukewarm water and dry it. Make sure to completely dry it since water could tarnish the bands and weaken the clasps.

Aside from bleach, chemicals and fats, extreme temperatures can also be harmful to your jewelry. They could cause some damage on the jewel’s cement or fracture the gems.

Avoid wearing your diamond jewelry when participating in sport activities or swimming. You could lose or damage your jewelry.

Diamonds that were altered may need a different kind of care. Sometimes stones that have been fractured are glued with epoxies. These epoxies can melt in intense heat and eventually cause your diamond to fracture again. You could ask your trusted jeweler if your diamond jewelry has been altered in any way.

Always keep in mind that your diamonds are indeed the hardest stone, but that does not mean that they will be able to last forever if they are not properly cared for. Care for them properly and  the shine will last for a long time, even forever.

Insurance for Your Diamond Jewelry

Your jewelry, especially your diamond jewelry is probably the biggest investment you have aside from your home and car. Since they are so valuable, it is important to insure your diamonds. You need to be aware that standard home-owners insurance may not cover your jewelry. Read your policy carefully, and be sure to purchase extra, specific insurance for your jewelry if necessary.

It is important to completely study and research about the insurance company’s policy regarding your diamonds. When applying for insurance for your diamond jewelry, make sure that you have the grading certificate and other certificates you received when you bought the diamonds. This will ensure that the value of the diamonds you will be insuring will not be questioned by the insurance company.

Even if you keep your diamond jewelry in a safe place at home, theft and robbery can still occur. Diamonds may also be lost when the prong or the mount securing the diamond becomes loose. Diamonds are indeed the hardest of gems, but that does not mean they are indestructible. Accidents can happen and eventually smash your precious diamond jewelry into pieces. Keep these scenarios in mind when choosing insurance policies. Insurance policies should cover theft, accidental loss and damage.

There are three types of insurance policies for your diamond jewelry:

  1. Actual cash value - In this type of insurance, diamonds are replaced regardless of their initial cost. The insurance coverage would depend on the current value of the diamond jewelry and not on how much it cost the owner when purchased. This is the best type of insurance for diamond jewelry, but its also the most costly. Most jewellers would recommend this kind of insurance policy for those who own heirloom diamond jewelry or those with large diamonds.
  2. Replacement value - This kind of insurance policy is more affordable however the owner of the diamond may not be able to get the real value of lost diamond. When an insured diamond jewelry gets lost or was stolen, replacement value insurance policies would replace the lost jewel at a lower cost than the lost diamond was purchased. Mainly this is because of inflation and other factors that make a diamond more valuable over time.  The reason why it is more affordable is that policy holders would only be paying to get to the value of the diamond, but customers would not be getting the same value.
  3. Agreed value - This is the most uncommon kind of insurance policy but some would say that this is best policy that could cover your diamond jewelry. The owner and the insurance company negotiate and agree on the value of the diamond jewelry. When something happens to the diamond jewelry, the insurance company would be providing what is the agreed amount of compensation.

Insurance policy rates may be different based on location and other factors. When getting your diamond jewelry insured, it is best to shop around and check different insurance company policies. Always make sure to read the fine print. Some insurance company policies would have loopholes in them which could eventually go against you.
